What didn't work out so well last time was that I showed you how a finite element program looks like.

The reason is that they have now also been converted to cloud and my local solves have no longer worked.

But now I have solved this problem in the cloud.

What we see here

I think everyone can imagine

is a bicycle frame.

And on this frame are some forces applied.

With such a bicycle you sit on it

then there is no force applied to the saddle

but you would stand on it.

So you pedal on the stand and then pull the bike.

And then some forces are applied.

Nowadays

if you want to calculate the forces or the tensions

you take such a finite element program.

I explained roughly how it is the last time.

If you zoom in, you can see what the individual elements are.

In principle

we have built the complex geometry of the thing into some cubes and tetrahedrons and similar things.

Typical meshing algorithms give us nowadays mainly tetrahedrons

although cubes are better from the solution.

But then we usually have to create by hand or pay very expensive meshing programs for it.

And then we get a colorful picture.

The colorful picture tells us where the tensions are relatively high and where they are not so high.

If we look at it, it is default.

I haven't touched anything yet.

If it is default, then it says something about Mises.

Of course, we don't know what Mises is yet.

But if you are in the engineering field, then it is Fusion 360.

It is a program from Autodesk.

There is a bar on the market from various manufacturers.

This is currently the dominant program for the number of users.

It is a program in which we can do computer-aided design

computer-aided manufacturing.

We can also define milling operations, define 3D printing and so on.

And we can do CIE, computer-aided engineering.

We can calculate the local tensions.

If we have very simple bodies, we can calculate it by hand.

This is always the preferred option, that we can calculate something analytically by hand.

Then we can understand it.

If you really want to understand how such a finite element program works

and why there may be tension peaks that are not quite realistic

then it is no longer quite so trivial.

Don't believe that we only have a few clicks and then the calculation of such a complex thing,

that we can just take it without further ado.

Instead, you have to kneel down a bit to understand that.

But what we see here is that something is written by Mises.

And that seems to be a very important thing when it comes out by default.

And we will now deal with it in the next lecture.

How do we get to such a thing by Mises? What does the thing do?
